Roy Wayne Newman (76) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 9, 2022. He was born July 31, 1946, to the late Elton and Maxine (Pharr) Newman. He was a 1964 graduate of Marietta High School. Following graduation, he served in the Mississippi National Guard. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, boating, and racing with his family and friends. He worked much of his life in the furniture industry, retiring from H.M. Richards in 2011. He enjoyed reading novels by John Grisham, watching western classics, and Mississippi State football. He was a collector of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt memorabilia. He will be remembered for his love of his family, hosting catfish fries, working in the yard, and his admiration for classic cars. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Brewer Newman; his son, Bryan Newman; his grandsons, Tanner Newman, Hunter Newman (Lexi), Spencer Newman (Tori); his two great-grandsons, Greyson and Granger Newman and three nieces, Rhonda Keenum (Mark), Carla Newman, and Gina Williams (Ken).

He was preceded in death by his three brothers, James Newman, Joe Newman and Hayden "Spider" Newman; his sister-in-law, Jorene Newman and his parents.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 pm Friday, November 11, 2022 in the Baldwyn Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. Elbert Ray Bennett officiating. Visitation will be 2-3 pm Friday at the funeral home. Private family graveside services will take place in the Hills Chapel Church Cemetery in Kirkville.
