Jason Mark Storey,42, after a beautiful life filled with love and support from family and friends, met his Creator at Baptist Hospital-Oxford on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022 after a brief battle with Pneumonia.  Jason was born On Christmas Eve, 1979 to his parents, Ken and Janice Storey.  He attended school at Plantersville but had lived the last 22 years of his life in the splendid care of North Miss. Regional Center in Oxford.

As we all know, there were things that Jason couldn’t do. He couldn’t walk and he rarely talked. He couldn’t do many things other people take for granted every day.  When people looked at him, that’s what they saw – the things he couldn’t do. But that’s not what his family saw, and that’s not who he was. His Sunday school teachers, special needs teachers, and daycare sitters were never forgotten by him – he remembered everyone and occasionally asked by name where they were. Jason gave us the gift of unconditional love. Unconditional love is loving even when it hurts, even when it’s not easy-to love and be loved. And Jason taught us how to love without words, without limits, without reasons. He was his daddy’s buddy but will always be his momma’s baby. He also taught us how to be happy because he took joy in simple things – joy in seeing his family, joy with his mischievous smile, his aggravating spirit, and of course his most favorite things – Shania Twain, ET, and Buzz Lightyear.

We could look to him for an example of perseverance and inner strength, as he continued to fight battles in health and limitations that would crush many of us. He showed us what it is to be strong, because strength is not just found in being the biggest, the toughest or the fastest. Strength is found in one who keeps on going, keeps trying, day after day, long after others give up. Strength is found in one who knows success isn’t always big and flashy, but knows that sometimes the greatest success is found in the tiniest of victories – Victory In Jesus. He is now fully healed and safely for eternity in the hands of his Jesus.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo with Dr. David Hamilton officiating and Randy Wood and Dr. Gary Gray providing music.  Burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 5PM-7 PM Tuesday, (11/29/22) and from Noon-service time on Wednesday, all at Holland-Tupelo, which is honored to be serving their friends.

In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by his most special sisters, Jade Huffman (Scot) of Pelahatchie and Carmen Carnathan (Bobby) of Mooreville; his nieces, Janna Grace Carnathan, Halle Huffman, Kyla Kate Huffman;  his nephews, Dawson Carnathan and Eli Huffman and his family at North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford and a large host of friends.

The family strongly suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Jason be made to Friends of North Mississippi Regional Center, 967 Regional Center Drive, Oxford, MS. 38655.  The service will be live streamed at 1 PM Wednesday at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming
