David Rogers

A Celebration of Life Service for James David Rogers, 53, will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Haney officiating. Burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 to service time.

David died December 8, 2022 at Baptist Memorial hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born January 2, 1969 in Corinth, MS to James and Linda Buchanan Rogers. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and a 1987 graduate of Alcorn Central High School. David worked at Gardner’s Supermarket in the meat department for many years. He enjoyed cars, watching sports and war movies. David was known as “Heartthrob” to his many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Rogers; sister, Jennifer Seals; nephew, Michael Payne; grandparents, Betty Lopez and Birdie Rogers; uncles, Danny Rogers and Gary West; and aunts, Ann Butler and Susan Emanuelli.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Rogers; sister, Dana Rogers Payne; niece, Marlee Seals; aunts, Tina West, Maria Castaneda (Roman) and Tracy Lopez; cousins, Daniel Rogers, Brandon Castaneda, Stephanie West Michael (Marty) and her children, Weston and Warner; and a host of other family and friends.

  1. Dear Rogers family, one of the saddest things someone can experience is the death of a loved one. Did you know the Bible compares death to sleep? (Psalms 13:3) Just as a person who is asleep is unaware of what is happening around him, the dead are not conscious of anything. There is a promise of hope in the Bible. Our loving God has promised to awaken the dead, as if from sleep, and give them life again. Acts 24:15 says, “There is going to be a resurrection.” The bible offers comfort for those who are grieving and I hope this brings you comfort as well.
