A Celebration of life service for Joan E. Dietschweiler, 84, of Corinth is set for Monday, December 12, 2022 at 12:00 pm at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she was a devoted member for 36 years, with Michael Dixon officiating. Visitation will be held Monday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the Corinth National Cemetery.

Mrs. Dietschweiler passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at her residence, in the presence of her family.

She was well founded in her faith, having a very strong relationship with her Savior. Joan spent her long life seeking the Lord with all her heart and finding him. She shared her love for Jesus freely with anyone she was around, whether in a checkout line or hotel lobby or an elevator. She was a conduit of God by the loving words she spoke and her gentle, sincere, and kind life. All her children thank her for demonstrating that the Lord is real and present with us every day as an early precursor for their own faith to grow. Joan had a way of making every person feel included and loved. She was a dedicated homemaker who took pride in making special memories.

One word that was always used to describe Joan was joyful. She had a countenance that would easily cheer someone up. This was also seen in her love for crafting, which included sewing, making ornaments, reading, writing, and playing the piano.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter H. Edwards, Sr. and mother, Muriel Doscher.

She is survived by her husband, Leon Dietschweiler; sons, Steven Dietschweiler (Karen), Kenneth Dietschweiler (Monique); daughters, Karen Dunkle (David), Laura Anthony (Kevin); brother, Walter Edwards (Roylene); sister, Carol Thomas (Carl); Grandchildren, Jennifer Vinson (Wes), Kimberly Martin (Brandon), Amber James (Jon), Nick Dietschweiler, Caleb Perera, Kristin Kervin (Jason),Kaley Leslie (Charlie) and nine great-grandchildren.

  1. Dear Dietschweiler family, one of the saddest things someone can experience is the death of a loved one. Did you know the Bible compares death to sleep? (Psalms 13:3) Just as a person who is asleep is unaware of what is happening around him, the dead are not conscious of anything. There is a promise of hope in the Bible. Our loving God has promised to awaken the dead, as if from sleep, and give them life again. Acts 24:15 says, “There is going to be a resurrection.” The bible offers comfort for those who are grieving and I hope this brings you comfort as well.
