J. E. “Jay” Osburn, 82, passed away on December 27, 2022, at his residence in Starkville, MS. He was born on October 1, 1940, in Hazlehurst, GA, to the late Leo Osburn and Ruby Harrell Osburn. He was a retired firefighter for the United States Air Force and a Southern Baptist Deacon for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Harriet Patterson Osburn; son, Gary Osburn (Melissa), all of Starkville, MS; daughter, Karen Douglas (Jeffery) of Florence, AZ; grandchildren, Ann Osburn, David Osburn, and Steven Grillo; sisters, Nell Tarr, Jewell Prescott, and Patricia Johnson; and brothers, Larry Osburn and Pat Ryle.
A private funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park in Starkville.
