Larry Brown
Wheeler – Larry Preston Brown, 69, passed away @ NMMC Hospice Unit on Monday, February 06, 2023 only 50 days after being diagnosed with a very aggressive type of leukemia (AML) in December, 2022. Larry was a former machinist for FMC and he was an avid Ole Miss football fan and deer hunter.
He enjoyed gardening his truck patch, riding trails on his four wheeler and taking his boys to First Monday in Ripley. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Larry was a member of Wheeler Baptist Church and a veteran of the MS Army National Guard.
Funeral services will be at Waters Funeral Home on Friday, February 10, 2023 @ 3:00 P. M. with Bro. Merle Floyd and Bro. Michael Shook officiating. Burial will be in Prentiss Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Ryan Brown of Wheeler; daughter, Emily DeVoss (Gary) of Baldwyn; son, Ryan Brown of Wheeler; brother, Rick Brown (Judy) of Guntown; grandchildren, Kate Brown of Metairie LA, Brody DeVoss and Gage DeVoss both of Baldwyn; mother-in-law, Peggy Ryan of Wheeler; host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Preston Eugene and Myrtie Floyd Brown; father-in-law, Nelson Ryan and a brother, Roy Brown.
Pallbearers will be Terry Caver, Scotty Moore, Denny Windham, Sam Mitchell, Clinton Smith and Mitchell Garner.
Visitation will be Friday at Waters Funeral Home from 2:00 – 3:00 P. M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wheeler Baptist Church.
