A Celebration of Life Service for Ruth Eileen Burress Sample, 92, is set for 1:00 pm Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Neal Clark and Dr. Benjamin Quinn officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 am to service time. A private family graveside service will follow at Henry Cemetery.

Ruth, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed from this world to her eternal heavenly home on February 20, 2023. She was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir, for as long as her health allowed.

She was born in Corinth, MS on September 14, 1930, to Jesse and Alice Barrett Burress. Ruth graduated from Farmington High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart. Together, they built a beautiful life and provided a wonderful Christ-centered home and heritage for their children and grandchildren.

Ruth was known and loved by many who met her during her 25 plus years of working for Dr. T.L. Sweat and during her time as Secretary at Alcorn Central High School. To us, her family, she was known and loved for her unwavering faith, support and energy. Family vacations were her favorite and keeping up with her on those trips could be quite the challenge.

She was preceded death by her parents; brothers, James Burress and Howard Burress; and sisters, Jewel Smith, Irene Clark and Lorene Diepenbrock.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 73 years, Dexter Sample; son, Ricky Sample (Pam); daughter, Gayra Quinn (Mike); five grandchildren, Brandon Quinn (Hannah), Emily Spiceland (Jonathan), Benjamin Quinn (Ashley), Rick Sample (Tory) and Phillip Quinn; thirteen great grandchildren, Raegan and Dex Sample, Porter and Audrey Anne Spiceland, James, Haydon, Branna, Emma Claire, Camp, Dawson and Fletcher Quinn, Brentlee and Matti-Blayke Knight; her brother, Freeman Burress; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Rick Sample, Brandon Quinn, Porter Spiceland, Camp Quinn, James Quinn and Haydon Quinn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association at http://alt.alz.org.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorialcorinth.com for the Sample family.

Arrangements are under the care of Memorial Funeral Home.
