Stacie Thurner, 77 of Corinth departed this life on March 15, 2023 at Stoneridge of Farmington following an extended illness. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Stacie was born July 10, 1948 at the US Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA to Glenn and Minnie Sunderland. Her family settled in Jacksonville, NC. Stacie graduated from Jacksonville High School, where she met her husband, Lee. She attended Pfeiffer College and UNC Greensboro. She and Lee were wed in March 1996, beginning 57 years of marriage. They had a daughter and a son and lived in Lakeland, FL. Stacie worked as a registered Nurse at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She also served as president of the Lakeland Junior Woman’s Club.

Relocating to Corinth in 2008, Stacie lent her kindness and empathy to the community, volunteering as a nurse for Legacy Hospice, part of Sharing Hearts, a caregiver respite minister, in the Friendship Class, and at First Presbyterian ministry supporting mentally challenged adults. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church.

Stacie is survived by her husband Lee; daughter, Jennifer Moyer (Dean) of Franklin, TN; son, David Thurner (Michelle) of Lakeland, FL; brother, Gary Sunderland of Surf City, NC; sister, Glenna Curran of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.

  1. Stacie had a wonderful smile and sweet countenance. I’m so glad to have known her as a neighbor when my office was on Fillmore. She and Lee have been a gift to Corinth, helping make our community better with their active hands and generous spirits.
