William Larry Lovell, 75, of Pontotoc, Mississippi, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023. Larry was born on October 13, 1947 to Gladney and Virginia Lovell. He attended Troy and Beckham School and graduated from Algoma School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served our country as a combat traffic controller. He was an active member of Troy Baptist Church. He spent many years with the church as a deacon and treasurer. Larry loved spending time in his garden growing tomatoes, farming, and he especially loved watching his grandchildren play ball.
Larry is survived by his wife, Betty Lovell; his three daughters, Cyndee Lovell, Christy Lovell, and Jennifer Bagwell (Terry); his grandchildren, Blake Lovell (Mary Kate), Madison Bagwell and Hunter Bagwell; his special granddaughter, Meagan Hillhouse (Warren) and her son Wyatt; and his special grandson, Joseph Zepeda (Melissa) and his children, Madelyn and Jase.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Gladney Lovell; his mother, Virginia Bryant Lovell; his father-in-law, James Walker; and his mother-in-law, Catherine Walker.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Browning Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Caples and Brother Don Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Edington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Browning Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers are Ken McCreight, Martin Zepeda, Joseph Zepeda, Warren Hillhouse, Larry Poe, and Tweetie Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Benny Neal, Jimmy Dean Beard, Jerry Bishop, and the deacons of Troy Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
