Mrs. Gladys was born on March 28, 1926, to the late Frank and Ada Jackson. A longtime employee of Kellwood, she was a gifted seamstress and a hard worker. Her whole life centered around her love of flowers. If Mrs. Gladys wasn’t answering the phone, her family knew exactly where to find her. Even when she reached the age where many others would’ve given up such a laborious hobby, she wouldn’t relent. It brought her far too much joy and despite how beautiful her yard was, she was always looking to add more. On one occasion, Mrs. Gladys’ family found her down by the creek digging away at a dogwood tree, with no plan on how to get it home, but with her mind made up that it would be hers. She was a loving and devoted member of Abbeville Baptist Church, present every time the doors were open. Of course, Mrs. Gladys took it upon herself to provide the altar flowers each Sunday for many years, bringing together two of her greatest joys. After the service each week, she would host Sunday dinners for her whole family, providing a lifetime of precious memories that her children will hold dear. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Alexander “Buddy” Vaughn; her son, Glenn Vaughn; and fourteen brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Ginger Kesler of Abbeville MS; sons, Frank Vaughn and his wife, Jeanette of Abbeville, MS and Jerol Vaughn and his wife, Brenda of Grenada, MS; six grandchildren, Kelly Reyes, Melanie Balducci, Kristy Marter, Cyndi Goodgame, Ellen Norrod, and Shannon Blackwell; as well as twelve great-grandchildren.
