Sherman Essary

Services to celebrate the life of Sherman Essary, 84, will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Valley of the Dogwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Mickey Trammel and Bro. Charles Stephenson will officiate the service.

Mr. Essary passed away on April 19, 2023 at Mississippi Care Center. He was born on September 20, 1938 in Kossuth to the late Charles P. and Lydia Irene Hayes Essary. He was a graduate of Kossuth High School. He worked as quality inspector many years at ITT until he retired. He then worked for Automotive Machinery Co. He served in the U.S. National Guard. In his spare time he loved to play softball, football, baseball and bowl; He had enjoyed baseball since high school. He attended Tate Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Edward Essary.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Jane Essary; daughters, Jenny Smith (David) and Laurie Hammer (Mark); grandchildren, Jake Smith, Hannah Hammer (Lauren) and Daniel Hammer (Jesse); great-grandson, Asa Billingsley; and a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jake Smith, David Smith, Mark Hammer, Daniel Hammer and Jesse Delao.
