Mrs. Flossie Stuby Pruitt, 68, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at her home in Oxford, MS. The memorial service will be Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in West Hall of Waller Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon.

Flossie was born on October 22, 1954, in Delta City, MS to the late Donald and Elaine Stuby. She worked as a supervisor at North Mississippi Regional Center. Beginning at a young age, Flossie had a great love for animals. When she was a young girl, her prize possession was her pet racoon that she lovingly cared for. Her passion for animals only grew stronger from there. Flossie had a heart for dogs and horses, but her greatest love and calling was in cat rescue. She was a devoted volunteer, foster, and supporter of Nine Lives Cat Rescue of Oxford, making a great impact in the rescue community. She would also volunteer with Cats of Catnip Row when able. When Flossie saw an animal in need, she always stepped up and offered everything she could to help. Flossie had a passion for music, listening to everything such as classical, modern, techno, swing, rock and roll, and everything in between. When she wasn’t playing music, she loved to settle in with a book and read for hours. Flossie loved animated movies and musicals. With a quick-witted sense of humor, she enjoyed making others laugh and could lighten the mood of any room. In her free time, she enjoyed playing video and card games with her husband, Carlos. Together they would compete for bragging rights with rounds of spades, hearts, and their favorite PC games. These memories of Flossie’s joyous and loving spirit will be cherished by her family.

Even in the face of her illness, Flossie never lost her wit or zeal for life. Her main focus was not of herself, but of the happiness and wellbeing of her family, as she kept them laughing despite the pain. She passed away peacefully lying next to her husband, listening to her favorite music.

Flossie is survived by her husband of 30 years, Carlos E. Pruitt, Jr. of Oxford, MS; son, Eric M. Pruitt of Oxford, MS; sister, Dawn Kearney of Florida; brother, Donald Stuby, Jr. of Alabama; and niece and nephew, Skye Kearney and Sean Kearney.
