Danny Brooks was born March 7, 1959, in Tupelo MS to the late James
Betts and Mary Lee Brooks. At an early age he professed a hope in Christ and
united with Rising Star Baptist Church in Tupelo MS. He worked at Milam
Jr. High, Mid-South Packers and Hickory Springs for 25 years until his health
failed him.
On March 10, 2023, Danny went home with our heavenly father surrounded by
family and loved ones.

He will always be cherished and remembered by his wife, Phyllis Berry-
Brooks of Belden, MS; three stepchildren: Shulanda Berry, Shacetta Berry

and Shun Berry; a bonus daughter, Sasha Berry all of Tupelo, MS; seven
grandchildren: Santavious Gunn, KaShunna Berry, Annaria Berry, Aiyanna
Berry, Marquavious Mcintosh, Carter Jones, and Alaina Berry; four sisters:
Evie Louise Betts of Jackson, TN, Brenda (Ronald) Page of Jackson, MS,
Vanessa Brooks of Tupelo, MS, and Juanita Johnson of Shannon, MS, three
brothers: Jerry Hunt, Jimmy Dale Brooks both of Tupelo MS, and Thomas
(Deborah) Kirby of Toledo, OH, four god siblings: Lannie (Denice) Shelley,
Amber Welch, Valerie Shelley and Danny (Ann) Copeland all of Baldwyn, MS,
sister-in-law: Betty Singleton of Tupelo, MS, two brothers-in-law, Everett
(Beverly) Berry of Memphis TN, and Jimmy Berry of Tupelo, MS, a special
friend Erie (Tommie) Haynes; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lee Brooks, his father James
Betts, godmother Betty Sue Shelley; two brothers, William Hunt and Robert
Hunt; three sisters: Diane Hunt Watts, Wendy Fay Betts Moore, and Deborah
Moore.
