David Hamlin Blackmarr, 85, of Oxford, MS, departed from this life on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born on December 09, 1937, in Gulfport, MS to the late William Rudolph Blackmarr and Emma Alston Blackmarr Berryhill.

David worked for Dover Elevator and later worked as a service engineer for IBM. He served his country in the Army Reserves. He married his wife, Adair Blackmarr on June 27, 1958 at Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. David loved to sing and play instruments with his friends at Blackjack, he also sang in the Middle Cross Quartet. In his spare time, he enjoyed saltwater fishing, camping, and spending time with family. He was part of the McDonald's "Coffee Crew." David was a member of North Oxford Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in his absence: wife, Adair Blackmarr of Oxford, MS; two sons: Bill (Debbie) Blackmarr of Dickson, TN; David H. Blackmarr Jr. of Olive Branch, MS; daughter, Terri (Gary) Sneed of Oxford, MS; sister, Bettye Terry of Millington, TN; six granchildren: Suzanne (Jeremy) Parker, Sarah (Ben) Suber, Colin (Jenny) Sneed, Will Blackmarr, Emily Blackmarr and Ryan Blackmarr. Six great-grandchildren: Sara Grace Parker, Caroline Parker, Emma McCord, Joshua Parker,  Landon Suber, and Jody Sneed.

David is preceded in death by his parents, William Rudolph Blackmarr and Emma Alston Blackmarr Berryhill; great-grandchild, Addison McCord.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at North Oxford Baptist Church. The funeral service celebrating David's life will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM at North Oxford Baptist Church with Dr. John Mahoney officiating. Will Blackmarr, Ryan Blackmarr, Kyle Brigance, Garrison Brigance, Jeremy Parker, Joshua Parker, Ben Suber and Stephen White will carry David to rest in Eastover Cemetery. The members of the Senior Citizens Ball Team will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Blackmarr family as they walk through this season of loss. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the passing of their loved one.
