Johnny Walter Long, 84, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his home. He was born October 16, 1938, in Belmont, to Eustic and Inez Sheffield Long. He was a long-time member of the Friendship Methodist Church. He was the Shipping Supervisor at Day-Brite Lighting, where he retired after 41 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and boating with his family at Pickwick.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Rev. Darrell Sanderson and Ricky Lesley officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Loden Long; his twin brother, Jim Long (Nan); one sister-in-law, Virginia Waddle; three nieces, Cynthia Lesley (Dennis), Kim Long (Brian), and Amy Webb (Mike); six great nieces; one great nephew; one great -great niece; and two great –great nephews; special friends, Russell Card, Bud Coley, and Mack Beane.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one nephew, Mike Waddle; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Allen Beane, Tom Beane, Dennis Lesley, Ethan Campbell, Mike Webb, and Brian Long.

Visitation will be Sunday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
