FULTON – Larry Gene Hood, 70, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Mississippi State Hospital in Pearl. He was born August 22, 1952, to Earl Eugene and Geneva Irene Waddle Hood. At the age of 16, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for 18 years where he received several medals as a commanding officer before becoming disabled. He enjoyed sports and was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed helping others.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Rodney Livingston officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Earl Eugene Hood II (Mindy) and one daughter, Laverne Hood, both of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Patricia Swords of New Albany; and five grandchildren, Evann, Boyd, Delacy, Javier, and Kapone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Earl Hood; and one sister, Linda Bobo.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
