Mrs. Betty Ann Marquis passed away on May 26, 2023 in Oxford, Mississippi. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 31st at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home, with Reverend Gerald Shook officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service in West Hall of Waller Funeral Home rom 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. She will be buried in Anchor Cemetery during a private ceremony for immediate family.

Betty was born in Louisville Mississippi, on December 11th, 1933 to the late H.A. and Elizabeth Mullins. After earning her Master’s in Education, she spent many years as a teacher before retiring from the Lafayette County School District. She was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. Betty loved her Lord, spending time with her large family, all things crafting and gardening, and was an avid reader. She deeply loved her family, especially cooking large meals for holiday gatherings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jimmy Marquis; her sister, Elaine Shirley; and her granddaughter, Melissa Ann Jones.

Mrs. Marquis is survived by her four children, Larry Marquis (wife Linda), Laura Carwile (husband Joey), Lee Marquis (wife Mary Jane), and Lisa McPhail (husband Mike). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
