TONEY, AL/FULTON, MS – Martha Jane Pierce Hinton, 68, of Toney, Alabama, passed from her life on Earth into the Gates of Eternity on July 2, 2023, at 12:43 p.m.  She succumbed peacefully to an extended illness at home where she received unmatched tender loving care from her devoted husband, Charles.  Pets and family were present as she entered.  Many friends lifted her in prayer throughout the illness and final days.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Quinton and Wilma Pierce, her brother, Tommy, all of Fulton, Mississippi, and most recently her twin sister, Joan Broughton (James) of New Hope, Alabama.  She is survived by her loving husband and friend, Charles Hinton, Jr.

Jane and her twin sister were born July 9, 1954, in Fulton, Mississippi.  Jane was a 1972 graduate of IAHS. She worked as a secretary/office manager for local insurance companies such as State Farm and went on to work for the state of Mississippi as a health care ombudsman.

A person of many interests, Jane and her twin sister shared a noted passion for meeting celebrities.  They experienced countless adventures and unforgettable fun meeting cast members of their favorite films while collecting autographs.  Jane also loved Elvis, classic country artists, such as Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline, Alan Jackson, and Merle Haggard, to name a few.

She celebrated Christmas merrily by adorning her home and Christmas tree with impressive sparkle and beautiful ornaments.  A favorite tradition was gifting collectible ornaments to her niece and nephews. Jane also crafted beautiful wreaths from items she gathered in nature. Her memory will live on in hearts for many Christmases to come.

Jane was particularly driven to delve deeply into family history and genealogy research.  She and her husband shared a passion for visiting historical locations to learn more about the family tree.  A person with a tender and kind heart, Jane loved her family and her pets.  Her Australian shepherds and her cats were considered her “kids.”

Special thanks are extended to Hospice and Encompass Health for assisting in Jane’s care.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Minister Tom House officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
