John Earl Davis, 83, of Calhoun City, departed from this life at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. John Earl was born on October 07, 1939, in Bruce to the late Oscar Davis and Florence Wilson Davis.

John Earl spent many seasons of life in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He then spent his time selling used cars. He was an avid football sports fan and loved watching football especially Ole Miss Football. In his spare time John Earl loved to play cards. John Earl loved his pups and his two grandpups. Although John Earl has departed from our lives, his treasured memory will hold a special place in the hearts of his friends and loved ones.

He leaves behind his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Blount Davis of Calhoun City; daughter, Carol (Gina Prater) Davis of Biloxi; step-daughter, Kathy Walls of Derma; two step-sons: Donnie (Tina) Smith of Houston, MS; Allen Blount of Vardaman; his pup, Crybaby; six grandchildren.

John Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Davis and Florence Wilson Davis; son, Jeff Davis; four brothers: Oscar Davis,Jr., Chick Davis, Dean Davis, Kenneth Davis; five sisters: Pearline Coleman, Julie Carter, Minnie Wade Graham, Clarice Berryhill, Jean Carmical. He also is preceded in death by his beloved pup Troubles.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 07, 2023, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The funeral service celebrating Johns’s life will take place on Friday, July 07, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce with Keegan Alexander and Ray Phillips speaking. Jeff Carmical, Steve Carmical, Tommy Lester, Johnny Moore, Brady Walls, and Mike Ward will carry John Earl to rest in Bruce Cemetery. Andy Hughes, Sonny Lester, Wayne McMahan, Jimmy Morris, Popey Pope, Jamie Rutherford, Donnie Smith, and George Winters will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The Staff of Parker Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the Davis family as they begin this new season of life. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
