Mary Lee Wright, 91, went to her heavenly home on July 6, 2023, at Pontotoc Health and Rehab, in Pontotoc, MS. She was born on May 11, 1932, in Vardaman, MS, to the late James Franklin Williams and Clemmie Brown Williams.

She was a devoted member of Vardaman First Baptist Church. Mary Lee’s greatest joy in life was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mary Lee was a member of the Merry Hearts and the Calhoun County Homemakers Club. She loved working in her garden and tending to her flowers. Oftentimes you would find her sitting outside enjoying God’s creation. Mary Lee enjoyed finding new recipes and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed playing card games with friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her loving family.

Those left to cherish Mary Lee’s memory are two sons: Randle Wright of Vardaman, and Tim Wright of Palm Bay, FL; one daughter, Sandra (Sidney) Luckett of Pearl, MS, and daughter-in-law, Karen Wright; five grandchildren: Blaine (Tyler) Parker, Kalyn (Aaron) Sims, Adam (Brittany) Wright, James (Danielle) Luckett, and Candice (Trenton) Goff;  seven great-grandchildren: Spencer, Lynlee, Mary Liles, Jake, Adi, Evie, and Isaiah.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents James Franklin and Clemmie Brown Williams, her husband A.D. Wright, her brothers James Lewis Williams and John Robert Williams, and her sister Charlene McGregor.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Vardaman. A funeral service honoring Mary Lee’s life will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Vardaman with Bro. James Towery and Bro. Fred Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with Tyler Parker, Adam Wright, Aaron Sims, James Luckett, Sidney Luckett, Wayne Edwards, and Randle Wright serving as pallbearers.  Don Williams, Joel Williams, Danny Williams, Roger Williams, Craig Williams, Earl McGregor, Trenton Goff, and Terry Williams will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Vardaman First Baptist Church Children’s Fund.
