LIFE STORY

Jackie W. Wilson, affectionately known as “Jay,” was born March 1, 1947, in Lambert, MS to the union of Dan and Earlene Wilson. Jay met and married Dorothy Johnson on May 2, 1994. They raised their family in Chicago, IL and after they retired, they moved in 2005 back to the hometown where Jay was born. He loved living in the South. 

Jay was baptized at an early age and when Jay attend Macedonia Baptist Church, he enjoyed teaching Sunday School, being an Usher, and many other tasks at the Church. 

He attended Macedonia School in Lambert MS. and Quitman County Industrial High School in Marks MS. Jay’s favorite subject in school was Math. He also loved playing baseball with his father and uncles. He also had a passion for reading. 

He knew at an early age that he was called to be in service. Jay joined the Military in 1965 and became a Helicopter Mechanic. Jay was the kind of person that everyone loved to be around. His light shine brightly and he used it to bring light to others. 

Jay will be welcomed through the gates of Heaven by his wife Dorothy, father Dan, grandmothers  Annie Bell, Abbie, his son Lawon, brothers Charles, Willie Lee, Wendell, and his nephews Wayne a/k/a Toot and Dominic.

Jay passed on to Glory on July 22, 2023. His beautiful spirit will forever be cherished in the lives of his mother, Earlene Wilson, his beloved children Jackie Wilson, Lamar Johnson, Deloris Johnson, Tawanda Johnson, and Gwen Harris “Ed”, Eleven Grandchildren and Seven great-grandchildren, His brother Eddie Wilson, His Sisters, Ruby Lee, and Kathy Wilson “Mathias”, His brothers and sisters in law. A special cousin Russell Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
