Joey O. Gentry, 70, of Starkville, MS, entered into Glory on August 14, 2023.
He enjoyed time spent outdoors fishing and being with his family. Born on January 27, 1953 to Hilman and Junie Gentry. Joey grew up in the Oktoc Community where he spent time working on the family dairy farm and working beside brothers and sisters in the family’s general store. He served in the Army National Guard. Never one to back down from hard work, he was a man of good character.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Elizabeth “Dee” Wooten.
Joey is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pamela G. Gentry; a son, Jarrad Newell (Deanna); three daughters, Mandy Holloway (Jeffrey), Kelly Brazeale (Jim), and Hilary Blankenship (Tommy); and his grandchildren, Shelby Castle (Louis), Oklyn Newell, Michael Brazeale, Aaron Newell, Olivia Holloway, Marley Blankenship, and Cameron Blankenship; his brothers, Wayne Gentry (Peggy), Buddy Gentry (Marilyn); and sisters, Jane Herrington (Wayne), and Christi Gentry.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Adam Berry will conduct the service. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Starkville.
