PONTOTOC -Joyce Ann Ashmore, 92, passed away August 25, 2023 at the NMMC in Pontotoc.  She received a degree in elementary education from Blue Mountain College and a masters from the University of Mississippi.  She taught second grade at Pontotoc Elementary for many years.  She was a member of the Pontotoc Women's Club and First Baptist Church of Pontotoc. She sang in the choir and was an active member of the Women's Missionary Union.  She loved children and enjoyed teaching Sunday school classes, GA's and vacation Bible school.  Vacation Bible school was especially important to her because that is where she made her profession of faith.  
Services will be at 10:00AM Thursday, August 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church.  Dr. Ken Hester will officiate.  Burial will be in the Pontotoc City Cemetery.  Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  
Survivors, daughters, Joy Gail Salter (Carl) and Sharon Porter (Bill); grandchildren, John Salter, Alan Salter (Kelly), Chase Porter and Matt Porter(Anna); great grandchild, Emma Salter; niece, Paige Alexander (Larry); great nephews, Brandon Alexander (Adriana ) and Zach Alexander; great grand niece; Elodie Alexander.
Preceded  in death by, parents, James Franklin Foster and Mary Estell Foster; husband, John Alvin Ashmore and a brother, Ruben Foster.
Visitation, 5-8pm Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home and 9AM until service time Thursday, August 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church in Pontotoc.
