Jarvitus Le’vert Jernigan, 35, was born November 20, 1987, to Tina Bell and
Levert Jernigan. He departed this life surrounded by his family on Thursday,
August 31, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at New Bethel Missionary
Baptist Church of Plantersville, MS. He later joined New Prospect Missionary
Baptist Church in Nettleton, MS. In February 2022, he married his loving wife,
Cherelle Frazier Jernigan. He was the committed and loving father to Jordan
Malik, Landen Emmanuel, and Raina Cheriyah.
Jarvitus was a 2006 graduate of Nettleton High School where he was an all-
around star athlete, playing football, baseball and running track. His family
moved to Columbus, Indiana where he worked as a team lead at Sam’s Club. He
was an Alabama Crimson Tide Football fan and enjoyed spending time with his
family and close friends.
He leaves to cherish his wife, Cherelle Frazier Jernigan of Nettleton, MS; three
children: Jordan Malik Jernigan, Landen Emmanuel Jernigan, and Raina
Cheriyah Jernigan; His parents, Tina Bell Floyd (Robert) of Plantersville, MS
and Levert Jernigan, Sr. (Michelle) of Nettleton, MS; four siblings: Brayla
Jernigan of Mansfield, TX, Ra’Shun Jernigan of Dallas, TX, Levert (Jay)
Jernigan, Jr. of Nettleton, MS, and Je’Kolbe Freeman of Plantersville, MS; one
nephew, Tanner Lee Jernigan; one grandparent, Ary Kay Jernigan of Nettleton,
MS; one aunt, Jerlene Warren of Plantersville, MS; two uncles, Benjamin Bell
(Faye) of Plantersville, MS and Rubin Jernigan of Belden, MS; his mother and
father in-law, Sharon Frazier and Robert Shamblin Traylor; a host of loving In-
laws, Cousins and Friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Pearline Traylor Bell, Joe Frank
Bell, and Romie Jernigan; one aunt, Sherry Ann Bell Gray; one uncle, Ronnie
Bell; and his bestfriend and brother, Marcus Huddleston.
