Otis Stewart
Tupelo- Otis Howard Stewart, 77, passed away at the NMMC on Wednesday, November 01, 2023. He enjoyed traveling, painting, teaching Taekwondo, welding and brick masonry. He was a retired truck driver. Otis was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church in Tupelo for over 44 years where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher for many of those.
Funeral services will be at West Jackson Street Baptist Church on Sunday, November 05, 2023 @ 3:00 p. m. with Dr. Keith Cochran officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Billie Jean Rice Stewart of Tupelo; daughter, Athena Mathis (Jimmy) of Saltillo; two grandchildren, Travis Mathis and Calvin Mathis; brother-in-law, Larry Rice (Judy) of Savannah, TN; host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hilda Duke Stewart; four sisters and one brother.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of his Men of Faith III Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be at West Jackson Street Baptist Church on Sunday from 2:00 – 3:00 p. m.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the West Jackson Street Baptist Church building fund at 1349 West Jackson St. Tupelo MS 38801.
