William C. Agnew

On July 29, 1936, William Clifton Agnew, affectionately known as Bubba, was born in Guntown, Mississippi to
Lee Wilson Agnew and Della Mae Davis Agnew. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Charlie and
Johnnie Agnew and a special aunt Lezora “Pig” Agnew.
Bubba professed a hope in Christ and became a member of Bethel Christian Episcopal Methodist Church at an
early age, where he remained an active and faithful member until his recent death. During his lifetime
membership he was a Steward, Trustee and Sunday school teacher.
He enjoyed gardening, maintaining his lawn, playing baseball as a young man, studying the Bible and carrying
on a good conversation. J.O Lowe High School was his alma mater and where he graduated in the late 1950s.
Employers lucky enough to have him in their service were, Triangle Distributors, Pennsylvania Tire Company,
Mid-South Meat Packing Company and Bauhaus.
Bubba passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo MS. He
was proceeded in death by his wife, Earsie Bowdry Agnew, to whom he was married for more than 56 years,
son Jerry Wallace Agnew, his parents, three sisters and five brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, William Anthony Agnew (Tawana) of Baldwyn, MS and Shirley
Bowdry Copeland (Bobby) of Lansing, MI; sister Brenda Mae Agnew of Baldwyn, MS; grandchildren: Royce
Marie May Weathers (Marshall) of Lansing, MI, Sherrie Agnew of Riley, MS, Shaunta Wheeler of Tupelo, MS,
Manyara May of Virginia Beach, VA, Shakelia Stewart of Red Hill, MS, Brian Stewart of Guntown, MS, Toria
Agnew of Baldwyn, MS, Samuel Stewart of Guntown, MS, twelve great-grand children and one great-great
grand son.
