BALDWYN – Jackie Sue Cooper Garrett, 86, passed away on Sunday, December 10 at her

residence at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility peacefully. She was born March 13, 1937, to the late

William and Grace Cooper. She lived all of her life in Baldwyn and attended Baldwyn High

School with her beloved classmates. She loved being a Bearcat and supporting all her

grandchildren in Bearcat sports. She fell in love with her high school sweetheart Mose Garrett

and married in 1954. They had two daughters Pam Hawkins and the late Metta Johnson.

Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, farming, hunting, and spending time with family and

friends. Jackie was a member of Ingram Baptist Church where she served as a Vacation Bible

School and Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a volunteer for North MS

Medical Center and Baldwyn Nursing Facility for several years before becoming a resident. She

enjoyed arts and crafts, making jewelry, being a cheerleader, and spending time with her

grandchildren.

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband Mose Garrett, parents William and Grace Cooper and

daughter Metta Johnson.

Jackie is survived by her daughter Pam Hawkins (Stephen); son-in-law Billy Johnson;

grandchildren Dustin Johnson (Sarah), Cody Johnson (Telina), Demi Roberts (Jamie), and LJ

Vegas; great grandchildren Hunter Johnson, Gracie Hughes, Cooper Johnson, Drew Hughes,

Brier Vale Johnson, and Andy Roberts (Abby); and great-great grandchildren Faith Roberts and

Jaxon Roberts.

Services will be held Monday, December 11 with visitation from 12-2 p.m. and ceremony at 5

pm with Bro. Joel Strahan officiating at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn, MS. Burial will be in the Prentiss Memorial Gardens. The “farm boys”

will serve as pallbearers: Rusty Rutherford, Mark Tapp, Rickey Tapp, Jerry McCreary, Robin

Conwill, Jackie Paul Thomas, and Sammy McCreary.
