Lucina Econas Palmer

Baldwyn- Lucina Econas Palmer, 77, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. She enjoyed her flower garden, game shows, ballgames, cooking, spending time with her family, her grandchildren’s events and she loved the color purple. She was a housewife and member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In her younger years she finished college and taught elementary school in the Philippines. She also worked as a nursing assistant at St. Dominics Hospital in Jackson, and also employed at UMMC School of Dentistry and was an office assistant for 20 years at her husband’s medical practice in Baldwyn, MS. In her later years, she transitioned to the loving role of housewife and grandmother.

Funeral services will be at Waters Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 2:00 p. m. with Dr. Chester Harrison and Bro. Grady Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, H. T. Palmer of Baldwyn; daughter, Laura Jo Gardner (Grant) of Baldwyn; son, Rusty Palmer (Jill) of Baldwyn; sister, Letty Spence (Glenn) of Virginia; grandchildren, Grady Gardner, Graham Gardner (Caroline), Melly Gardner, Sophie Palmer and Sadie Palmer all of Baldwyn; special family, Nida, Greg Culp and family of Virginia, Jose’ James Gayo and family of Missouri and Mellie Parks and family of El Paso, TX; host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Simplicio Econas and Maria Tabasa Econas; daughter, Melanie Dawn Palmer; son, Roger Dale Palmer; brothers, Benny Econas, Medes Econas, Mario Econas; sisters, Rosario Econas, Esther Ababa.

Pallbearers will be Bart Palmer, Jeff Palmer, Joey Hall, Chris Morris, Emmett Mansfield, Don Bryson and Ronnie Parker.

Visitation will be at Waters Funeral Home on Wednesday from noon until service time at 2:00 p. m.
