Mr. James H. “Pop” Edwards, 84, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at his home in Oxford, MS. The funeral will be Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Burnett officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 A.M. He will be buried in Liberty Cemetery in Nettleton, MS.

Mr. Edwards was born on March 3, 1939, in Lee County, MS, to the late Gertrude and William Edwards. He worked as a foreman, doing contracted work for telephone companies. His favorite days were those spent fishing and hunting, or any activity that allowed him to spend time outdoors or in the woods. Watching drag-racing also brought him great enjoyment. A man of faith, Mr. Edwards followed the teachings of the Baptist church and held a genuine love of Christ. His family was at the center of all he did in life, and brought him greater joy than anything else. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Edwards; daughters, Jonell Williams and Louise Sullivan; sons, Johnny Sullivan, Ricky Woods, Donnie Gray, and James Earl Edwards; and brothers, Johnny Edwards, Leon Edwards, and Leroy Edwards.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his daughters, Brenda McCord and her husband, Andy, of Oxford, MS, Janice Fortner of Oxford, MS, Diane McDonald and her husband, Bobby, of New Albany, MS, and Linda Terry and her husband, Ricky, of Nettleton, MS; his brother, David Edwards of Pontotoc, MS; as well as 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
