Mrs. Denton was born in Pontotoc County on December 23, 1931 to the late Shirley Dalton and Vera May Warren. At the young age of 12, she made a profession of faith and became a Christian before joining First Baptist Church in 1950. Following graduation from Toccopola High School, Dot attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College and The University of Mississippi. She lived in Oxford most of her adult life, twenty-five years of which were spent in the field of banking where she served in various roles including administrative assistant, business development officer, mortgage loan processor and numerous other positions within bank operations. She also served as a real estate broker for twelve years before retirement. Dot was well known throughout her community for her work ethic but was also active in civic and volunteer roles for many years. She was recognized by the Oxford and Lafayette County community and was named Outstanding Business and Professional Woman of the Year in 1977. Dot was not a woman to remain idle so, following her retirement, she entered into the workforce again and became a certified nursing assistant where she worked in the private healthcare setting as long as her heath permitted.

Her family were the most important people in her life. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, William “Bill” Denton of Oxford; three children, Donna Denton Palmertree of Oxford, Cindy Denton Misita and her husband, Michael of Oxford and Walter Warren Denton and his wife, Vickie of Tylertown, MS; seven grandchildren, Michelle Ousley, Victoria Blum, Joseph Misita, Dustin Denton, Micah Misita, Raney Guerrero and Peyton Denton as well as ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Diamon Warren Williams; eight brothers, Shirley Warren, Gaston Warren, Foy Warren, Ray Warren, Nanc Warren, L.J. Warren, Myrl Warren and Darrel Warren and a son-in-law, Ken Palmertree.
