Joyce Dean Greene Barber

Marietta- Joyce Dean Greene Barber, 84, passed away on Friday, March 22,2024. She was born in Booneville to the late Herman and Vivianne Greene. She graduated from cosmetology school in Texas. Joyce married the love of her life, Calvin Barber. She had a servants heart and was a faithful, dedicated ministers wife for over 50 years. Joyce worked as a cosmetologist and also worked with her husband and children, at their family owned business Barber Printing Co. Joyce enjoyed fishing, cooking for others and will always be remembered for her fish meals and her famous dill pickles. Joyce was a member of the Church of Christ and loved her Lord and church family.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Rest Church of Christ on Tuesday, March 26 @ 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Tony Brown officiating.. She will be buried in Zion Rest Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by her children, Jim Barber (Brenda), Nora Brown (Tony) and Eunice Frederick (Barry); grandchildren, Deana Wyers (David), Kadee Jenkins (Andrew), Andrew Brown (Whitnie),BJ Frederick (Lillie), Codey Frederick (Kelsey), Kacie White (Tyler), Dalton Frederick (Paige) and Ashlyn Frederick (fiancé Carson Jones); great-grandchildren, Tripp Wyers, Georgia Kate Brown, Mamie Grace Jenkins, Sam Henry Wyers, Hadley Brown, Swayze Drew Brown, Adi Jenkins, Mia Jenkins, Summers White and Callen White; siblings, Lou Della Thomas, Will Greene, Lynn Greene (Sarah), Patricia Hancock (Hal) and Nancy Mortimer (Andy); host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Bro. Calvin Barber; siblings Nelly Faye Simmons, Rachel Rossi, JW Greene, Patsy Chappell, Lamar Greene, Jimmy Greene, Huey Greene and Louise Panis.

Pallbearers will be David Wyers, Andrew Jenkins, BJ Frederick, Codey Frederick, Dalton Frederick, Tyler White, Carson Jones, Andrew Brown, Tripp Wyers and Sam Henry Wyers. 

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in her memory to Maywood Christian Camp, 700 Maywood Camp Road, Hamilton, Alabama 35570.

Visitation will be Monday evening at Zion Rest Church of Christ from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
