Mrs. Carolyn Bruce Adams, 92, died Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN. The funeral will be Friday, April 12, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Irvin officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow the service in Philadelphia Cemetery.

Carolyn was born on October 13, 1931, in Oxford, MS, to the late Clatis Graham and Wesley Dewey Bruce, Sr. Her early life was spent on her family farm, enjoying all the pleasures of a Southern childhood with her brothers, Wesley, Webster, and Winston Bruce. Before ever learning to drive a car, Carolyn could man both a tractor and a school bus better than most adults, a skill she was incredibly proud of.

She married her husband, Edwin Adams, and together they shared 66 years of marriage, raising two daughters and creating a lifetime of memories. Carolyn had a successful career as an insurance adjuster, retiring at the same time as Edwin so that they could enjoy their golden years together. She relished the newfound time to tend to her beloved garden, and nurture her sewing and crafting hobbies. For three decades, she’d work all year to lovingly handcraft Christmas ornaments for her friends and family. A lover of cookbooks, Carolyn always had her eye out for a new one to add to her shelf. She held a coveted collection of beanie babies that she treasured, keeping them in pristine condition. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Edwin Adams.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Debbie Mullikin (Bob Hopper) of New Jersey and Donna Vickery (Gary) of Memphis; nephews and nieces, Wes Bruce, Monica Smith, Frankye Bruce, Patricia Pruitt, and Ralph Bruce.
