Mittie Ree Taylor Moreland
Mittie Ree Taylor Moreland (Mamaw) passed away at age 91 on Sunday, May 19, 2024, after a brief illness at Sweetwater Hospital in Tennessee. She was born on February 16, 1933, to Wiley Odon Taylor and Minnie Lee (Rutherford) Taylor in Baldwyn, MS. Mittie worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room for North Mississippi Medical Center and oncology at Tulane Hospital in New Orleans. After retirement, she was a house mother for fraternities and sororities at both Mississippi State and Ole Miss. She was also a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Baldwyn, MS. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and watching sports, with her favorite teams being the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Chicago Cubs.
She is survived by her children: Roxane Elder (Greg) and Rebekah Moreland-Bailey (Kieffer); grandchildren: Daniel Mills (Kyle), Nick Moreland, Mark Lewison, Rachel Elder, Erin Savoie, Jacob Elder (Morgan), and Alix Savoie; great grandchildren: Sydney Mills, Harper Mills, Tilghman Mills, and Drew Elder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Steve Moreland (son), Renee Lewison (daughter), 6 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Services will be held at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn, MS at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
with Bro. Ricky Kimbel officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in Baldwyn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg Elder, Kieffer Bailey, Daniel Mills, Nick Moreland, Jacob Elder, and Jimmy Dillinger.
