Mary Catherine Stephens “Cathy” Estes, 78, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024, in Oxford, MS. She is now no longer suffering and is with her Lord and Savior. She lived her life serving Him by serving others. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” Revelation 21:4

A service in honor of Cathy’s life will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Natchez, MS with Pastor Bill Bustin officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 A.M.

Cathy was born on November 18, 1945, in Jackson, MS to Robert Kenneth and Lillian Stephens. She was a graduate of Murrah High School and the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She taught school for many years and was adored by all of her students. After teaching she became a secretary at First Baptist Church in Natchez, MS, where she worked until retirement.

Cathy was married to the love of her life, Donald Estes for 59 years. They had 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She led her children to faith in God the greatest gift a mother can give. She thought being a mother would be her greatest joy, but when she became a grandmother, she discovered that it was her grandchildren who were her greatest joy in life. She loved her family and her Lord.

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:23

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, R.K. Stephens and Lillian Stephens and her sister, Linda Brasfield. Cathy is survived by her husband, Donald Estes, her children Stephanie (George) Forbes, David (Kim) Estes and Lillian (Scott) Reed; her grandchildren Tyler (Lena), Allison, Paul, Ben, Audrey, Harvey, Jamie, and Sam; and her great grandson Connor.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalms 116:15

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Cathy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Mississippi Chapter, P.O. Box 456, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39158.
