Luke Emerson Whaley

March 25, 2004 ~ November 21, 2024

Luke Emerson Whaley, 20, died Thursday, November 21, 2024, in Oxford, Mississippi. The funeral will be Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church in Germantown, Tennessee, with Rev. Drew Turberville officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:30 at the church. A private graveside service will be held at College Hill Presbyterian Church in Oxford, Mississippi.

Luke, God’s covenant child, was born on March 25, 2004, to Adrienne Anderson Whaley and Jason David Whaley. From a young age, his clever sense of humor and dry wit were evident. A natural debater, he kept his parents, siblings, and friends on their toes, always looking for opportunities to test their knowledge. His analytical mind made him a worthy adversary at board games which he frequently played with his friends and cousins. He enjoyed sports like swimming, pickleball, and ultimate frisbee. By far, his most treasured times were those spent with his friends. He now sits in heaven worshipping his Lord and Savior while he awaits the arrival of those friends so that they can worship together into eternity.

Luke attended school at The University of Mississippi, where he was an enthusiastic member of Reformed University Fellowship and found great friends and fellowship amongst fellow believers. While in Oxford, he became a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church, which he faithfully attended even during the summer when he drove from Germantown to attend on Sunday mornings.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Whaley.

Luke is survived by his parents, Adrienne and Jason Whaley, of Germantown, TN; two brothers, Will Whaley and James Whaley of Germantown, TN; grandparents, Wanda Whaley of Germantown, TN and Gwen and T.J. Anderson of Jackson, MS; as well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Because of Luke’s love of Christ and desire to spread the good news of the gospel, expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Luke’s memory may be made to Reformed University Fellowship or to College Hill Presbyterian Church.
