Mr. Vance Guthrie, 90, died Thursday, December 26, 2024, at his home.
Mr. Guthrie was born in Benton County, Mississippi, on May 16, 1934 to Frank and Gladys (Brownlee) Guthrie. Following high school, he joined the US Navy and traveled to many places around the world. It was through these travels that he met his wife, Pat, in Portsmouth, England.
Following his service in the Navy, Mr. Guthrie worked as a mechanic, in manufacturing, and in the logging business. He was most at peace in nature and enjoyed many days of fishing and hunting.
Mr. Guthrie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Cox Guthrie; brothers Carl Reese Guthrie and Robert Thurman Guthrie; sister, Vivian Norwood Phillips; and grandson, Levi Guthrie.
He is survived by his son, Perry Guthrie, of Myrtle, Mississippi, and his three daughters, Patricia Stroud of Bartlett, TN, Sharon Anderson of Brandon, MS, and Julie Rogers of Maize, KS; nine grandchildren, Emily Guthrie, Aaron Guthrie, Brian Stroud, Amy Brown, Shane Anderson, Collin Anderson, Kathryn Rogers, Grace Rogers, and Claire Rogers; and eleven great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial for the family at a later date.
