Alice was born on June 14, 1942, in Bruce, Mississippi, to the late Bettie Sims and Cletus Reid Miller. She was a devout and beloved member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Yocona, where she was an active participant in the Women’s Missionary Union and Golden Prospectors.

She worked as a secretary at the Department of Human Resources, where she developed many cherished and lifelong friendships with her coworkers. In her free time, Alice derived much pleasure from cooking for her family, renowned for her homemade biscuits, chocolate pies, and pea-shelling skills. She loved to settle in to her recliner with a knitting or crochet project, lovingly crafting gifts for her family and friends. A grandmother through and through, she adored babies, and could always be seen holding and soothing them. Known for her giving and gentle spirit, Alice loved her family and her Lord with all of her heart. Her presence will be missed by all of her family and loved ones, but they rejoice that her faith is now sight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lyles Hodge; sisters, Billie Sims, Ruth Inman, and Susie McCain; brothers, Harvey Miller and Charlie Miller; and great-grandchild, Reid Michelle Owen.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Pam Lowery and her husband, Scott, of Oxford, MS and Paige McGonagill and her husband, Hunter, of Auburn, AL; sisters, Grace Morgan of Banner, MS and Elvis Davis of Water Valley, MS; brother, Bobby Miller of Elliott, MS; five grandchildren, Emily Owen, Jaden Cook, Mary Wait, Ethan McGonagill and Sawyer Hodge McGonagill; four great-grandchildren, Haley Owen, Grace Lyles Owen, Wilder Cook, and Weston Cook; and beloved family friend, Beth Sartor James.
