Major Mark Richard Pedron (Ret.), 66, died Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in Marshall County, Mississippi. The funeral will be Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Father Mark Shoffner officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at a later date in North Mississippi Veteran’s National Cemetery in Kilmichael, Mississippi.
Mark was born on June 10, 1958, in Springhill, Louisiana, to Patricia Edwards and Lester Pedron. An honorably retired Army Officer, Mark had devoted his life to the service of his country, serving during Desert Storm and earning a Bronze Star, Army Master Aviator Badge, and Expert Infantryman Badge. He served in many combat zones and foreign deployments, including Iraq, Kuwait, Somalia, and at sea with the Navy and Army. A graduate of The University of Mississippi, Mark earned his Bachelor’s Degree in public administration and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. While at Ole Miss, Mark was a member of the ROTC and served as Cadet Commander. He continued his education at Troy State University where he earned his Master’s Degree in public administration.
Mark was the proud father of three sons, Conway, Stephen and Thomas and took great pride in leading their Boy Scout troop, where all three earned the rank of Eagle Scout. His passion for the outdoors was evident in the patience he displayed when sharing his skills and knowledge with his boys. Some of Mark’s favorite memories were of countless camping trips they took throughout the years. He passed on his love of nature to them, but most of all his love of fishing. Mark found the most peace in life when he was out on the lake in his boat, reeling in fish after fish. Drawing inspiration from the outdoors, Mark created many beautiful paintings, working with various mediums including watercolor and charcoal. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Oxford. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Lester Pedron, and his uncle, Jerry Pedron.
Mark is survived by his mother, Patricia Pedron of Memphis, TN; his wife of 41 years, Melissa Gwin Pedron of Oxford, MS; his three sons, Andrew Conway Pedron and his wife, Christina, of Cleveland, OH, Stephen Edwards Pedron and his wife, Annie, of Louisville, KY, and Thomas Pedron Stone and his fiancé, Melissa, of Santa Monica, CA; sister, Melissa Pedron Watts of Reedsport, OR; brother, Jeffrey Lewis Pedron of Collierville, TN; and four grandchildren, Gabriel, Alma, Maeve, and Mark.
