Annie Francis Littlefield Calfee

Mrs. Annie “Francis” Littlefield Calfee, 89, died Friday, March 7, 2025, at her son’s home in Toccopola, Mississippi. The funeral will be Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Marcus Coward officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow the service in Lebanon Cemetery.

Francis was born on March 17, 1935, to the late Lorraine Roman and Eddie Littlefield. The fourth of nine children, she grew up in Springville, Mississippi, surrounded by her many siblings and a tight-knit community. Francis attended the local school in Toccopola until the 11th grade, and though she regretted not finishing her high school education, she didn’t let it hold her back from developing a successful career as a seamstress. At 17 years old, she married her late husband, Nick, both donning blue suits at the wedding that was officiated by the Bubblegum Man in Batesville, MS, in 1951. In addition to her work as a seamstress, throughout the years Francis also worked as a waitress, sewed clothing and pillows, and worked in a furniture factory.

Together, Francis and Nick built their home from a Sears-Robuck kit, utilizing supplies from the Ole Miss retired fraternity houses, and carefully tending to every last detail. Much like their home, they built their lives together from scratch, creating a warm and wonderful life for their beloved children. In addition to her parents, Francis was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Nicholas C. Calfee.

Francis is survived by her daughters, Wanda Calfee Henley of Southaven, MS and Debbie Calfee Murphree and her husband, Paul, of Memphis, TN; sons, Greg Calfee and his wife, Rena, of Toccopola, MS and Scott Calfee of Toccopola, MS; sister, Patricia Bryant of Pontotoc, MS; as well as 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
