Max G. Moorman, 84, died the afternoon of Saturday, March 8th, 2025, following a short illness. He was born February 1, 1941, in Prentiss County, MS, the son of R.C. Vardaman “Vard” Moorman and Lucille Jones Moorman. A proud Sargeant in the 50th Signal Battalion, Airborne of the United States Army, he served his country from October 1962-October 1965 and was a retired employee of Continental Can Company. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a devoted member of Martin Hill Freewill Baptist Church, where he found great fulfillment in serving his church and community.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lana Moorman of Moss Point, MS, and Jordia Martin (Jesse) of Colorado Springs, CO; his granddaughter, Jari Revay, and his great-granddaughter, Sailor Johnson, of Moss Point, MS, and the mother of his children, Becky (Randy) Thompson of Moss Point, MS. He also leaves behind his brothers George “Hop” Moorman (Doris), Clovis Moorman (Trish), Jimmy Moorman, and Ralph Moorman (Susan), all of Moss Point, MS, as well as his sisters Tannah Bolen, Dottie Temple (Dale) of Moss Point, MS, and sisters-in-law Virginia Moorman and Melvy Moorman of Booneville, MS.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce George, and brothers Billy, Jerry, and Vard “JR” Moorman.
His legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 12PM to 2PM on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, at Martin Hill Freewill Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service with Bro. David Harper officiating.
Burial will take place at the National Cemetery in Corinth, MS, on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at 11AM.
Pallbearers will be the United States Veterans Honor Guard.
