Burial will follow the service in Delay Cemetery.

Jimmie was born on April 11, 1935, to the late Lenna Anderson and Toy Clark. In 1959, she married her husband, Elton, and together began traveling and living all over the world with his military service. For Jimmie, this nurtured a lifelong love of travel and appreciation of other cultures. While overseas, she enjoyed writing letters back home to her friends and family, keeping them up to date on all of their many adventures. No matter where they found themselves, Jimmie turned each location into a warm and welcoming home for her family. Elton affectionately called her Polly, and the two were content with wherever they were sent, so long as they had each other.

Jimmie retired from North Mississippi Regional Center, where she provided many years of service as a caregiver, lovingly looking after her beloved residents. She was a former member of Delay Baptist Church and current member of South Lamar Methodist Church, holding many treasured friendships at both churches. Jimmie could often be found in her yard tending to her flower gardens, appreciating each and every bloom that opened. She enjoyed cooking, especially for her family, and talking on the phone with her sisters. A soft-spoken and gentle soul, Jimmie will be remembered most for her pure, loving heart. She was never known to utter a cross word, speaking only words of kindness and love. Jimmie treasured every moment spent her with her husband, children, and her precious grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Clark.

Jimmie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Elton Watson of Oxford, Mississippi; daughters, Linda Story and her husband, Herman, of Oxford, Mississippi and Cindy Roberts and her husband, Keith, of White House, Tennessee; son, Kerry Watson and his wife, Analyn, of Brunswick, Georgia; seven sisters, Betty Joe Barbee of Crestview, Florida,  Jonnie Sue Hollowell of Oxford, Mississippi, Toy Lynn Bennett of Oxford, Mississippi, Jerri Gillentine of Oxford, Mississippi, Brenda Hillhouse of Oxford, Mississippi, Vickie Odom of Oxford, Mississippi, and Mandy Ridgeway of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Tim Clark of Tula, Mississippi and Paul Clark of Oxford, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Monica, Ashley, Ben, William, and Ariane-Kate; one great-grandchild, Taylor; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Jimmie’s memory may be made to Delay Cemetery, 1171 Highway 334, Oxford, Mississippi 38655.
