A private graveside service will be held in Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, AR.
Dale was born on September 5, 1936, in Vinton, LA, to the late Lester John Barrios and Era Laverne Vincent Barrios. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the submarine units during Vietnam and The Cold War and completed over 15 assignments between 1955-1978. Following his service with the Navy, Dale worked various projects, including cutting and hauling pulp wood. He found his rhythm when he bought “Barrios Westside Chevron” which became the information hub of Lafayette County. He mentored many young men throughout the 20+ years he owned the station.
As an avid and loyal fan to his Ole Miss Rebels, Dale served as President of the Bull Pen Club, Tip Off Club and Quarterback Club. He supported all Ole Miss athletics but especially loved Ole Miss Baseball where he constantly gave the home plate umpire “hell” if he got it wrong with his famous “THAT”S GARBAGE” rant, but never with a foul or cross word to the boys on the field. When he wasn’t supporting baseball, he was an avid fisherman and Crappie Crowd will rejoice knowing they no longer have to compete for fish against Dale. He also loved to deer hunt and especially loved taking his granddaughters and great-grandchildren along for the hunt, passing the legacy on. He was an avid softball player and pitcher in the local leagues and routinely recruited players near the end of each season. Dale was married to his bride, Ruby Jean Fraizer Barrios, for 57 years before her death in 2016. In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by his beloved son, Allen Barrios; a sister, Darlene Barrios and a brother, Jimmy Barrios.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Cheri McManus and her husband, Rocky of Oxford, MS; daughter in law, Kathy Barrios of Oxford, MS; a sister in law, Bettye Williams of Hernando, MS; three granddaughters, Dana Moltmaker and her husband, Joe of Jacksonville, NC, Casey Townsend and her husband, Will of Tunica, MS and Kaitlin Wilkinson and her husband, Al of Oxford, MS and seven great-grandchildren, Paisley Moltmaker, Jace Wilkinson, Reid Townsend, Ridge Wilkinson, Sydney-Rae Wilkinson, EmmaLynne Townsend and Davis Townsend.
