Jimmy Gibson, 77, of Guntown, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at Sanctuary Hospice House on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A lifelong farmer, Jimmy devoted his life to the land, his family, and the values of hard work and faith that guided him every day.
Jimmy was the proud owner and operator of M & J Farms and spent his life doing what he loved most —dairy farming. From a very young age, he could be found milking cows before school, learning the value of responsibility and dedication long before daylight ever broke across the fields. Farming was never just a job to Jimmy; it was his passion and way of life. He loved everything about it — tractors, crops, Holstein cows, the changing seasons, and the satisfaction that came from an honest day’s work.
Known for his remarkable attention to detail, Jimmy was an avid record keeper who carefully documented even the smallest daily happenings. Whether it was notes about the farm, weather, cattle, or everyday life, he believed every detail mattered and took pride in keeping things organized and precise.
More than anything, Jimmy loved his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, teaching them about life, work, and the importance of family. Some of his fondest memories were made working side by side on the farm with his son, Taylor, carrying on the traditions and lessons he learned from his own father, Daddy Myrle. Those moments in the fields and around the farm were among the treasures he held closest to his heart.
At the time of his passing, Jimmy was the longest-serving member of Camp Creek Baptist Church, where his faith remained a steady foundation throughout his life.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Camp Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Martin Jacks and Bro. Chad Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Creek Cemetery. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Myrle Gibson and Iva Wood Gibson, his brother-in-law, Riley Morris, and nephew, Jud Morris.
His grandsons will serve their Papaw as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Camp Creek Baptist Church.
