Our Beloved Servant of God, Wife, Mother, New Angel Entering into Heaven Annie Mae Listenbee Thornton was the oldest child born on August 9, 1931 in Lee, County Mississippi to Elmo and Jeffie Lee Hersey Listenbee.

Her life is a testament to her many virtues.  She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Johnson Chapel Baptist Church in Shannon, Mississippi later moving to Tupelo, Mississippi she  joined the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and the Mother Board for many faithful years. After her service at the New Providence she join People's Community Baptist Church where faithfully served in Sunday School and the Mother Board until her health failed.

Annie Mae was loved by her family and the many lives she touched in the community, during her 15 years in the Tupelo Public School District and later retiring 27 years as dietary supervisor and special events coordinator for physicians conference at the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Annie Mae Thornton had a love for family, cooking, going to Church and very compassionate, had a smile that would light up a room,

February 1972 she married the George Ervin Thornton and spent 40 wonderful and loving years until his passing on September 27, 2011.  Annie Mae reunited with her husband on March 13, 2020 at her life-long resident surrounded by the love and devotion of her family.   Preceded in death by her parents, a son George Thornton, Jr. three sisters, Bernice "Pie" Listenbee, Jeanette "Boo" Ivy, Sarah Lee Brown, two brothers, Tom Frank Listenbee, Carl Murphy Listenbee, grandparents Tom and Mary Hersey,

She leaves behind to cherished her loving memories her two children, Patricia (Rey) Canciller, Sam (Rene) Listenbee, one brother, John (Ella whom she loved as a sister) Hersey, Delois (Larry) Page held a special place in her heart, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren , a special grandchild Seante Wilson and her daughter Patricia Canciller served a personal care givers in the home they brought peace and stability to our beloved mom  last days on earth,  she shared a special bond with four cousins, Betty Walker, Artelha Gilbert, Reese Horton, Dorothy Jean Johnson they made each other smile, and a flourishing host of nieces, nephews other cousins who loved her and enjoyed the laughter she would bring.  three brother in laws, Joseph Thornton, Sam (Besty) Thornton, Mitchell (Marie) Thornton, another sister-in-law, Cornelius Cummings.
