Miss Dorothy Jean Long was born unto Tommie Long and Hattie (Clark) Long on June 17, 1944, in Lee County, MS. She departed this life, after an extended illness, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS on May 28, 2020. She was 75 years old.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Blackland Missionary Church where she sang in the choir for many years and remained a member until her death.
She was employed for many years as a housekeeper at the Ramada Inn in Tupelo, MS until she retired. She was a person who loved people and she loved going to Church as often as she could. She loved quartet singing and one of her favorite songs was “When the Gates Swing Open” by Otis Clay.
She will be remembered for sitting quietly in a chair watching her favorite Western movies on Television.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories two sons: Steve (Debra) Morris of Verona, MS, Robert (Alison) Long of Amory, MS; Three Daughters: Patricia (Rick) Beckley of Tupelo, MS, Brenda Kaye (Rev. Fredrick) Orr, Louise (Harvey) Long of Verona, MS; One Brother: Jimmy Lee Long of Verona, MS; Two Sisters: Ida Mae Morris of Tupelo, MS, Patsy (Willie) Gardner of Verona, MS; 20 grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Six Brothers, Five Sisters, and one great-grandchild (Octavious R. Williams Jr.).
