Mr. Robert Thornton was born on February 05, 1942, in Shannon, MS to proud parents Hardy Thornton II and Lealer Kyles. Robert loved life and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and joking around. His laughter was contagious, and his smile was simply unforgettable. In the early years, he sang gospel in his family group and always had a love for Poplar Springs CME church as well as for the community.
Robert was a strong, proud, and resilient man with a compassionate and loving heart. He was an extremely hard- worker, retiring from Foamex Industries after 25 years of service. He worked even after retirement at various places because it was just hard for Robert to stay home and do nothing, that’s who he was. He finally stopped working when his health began to slow him down, at that point he became an avid football and basketball fan loving the Tennessee Titans and Memphis Grizzlies.
Robert answered God’s call on May 23, 2020, and entered the gates to his Heavenly home. Robert will never be forgotten, his vibrant spirit and love for life continue with his family.
Robert is resting and finally reuniting with those loved ones he missed so dearly. This is not his final song or a sad goodbye, we will see him again one sweet and joyous day on the other side.
We love you Daddy, Grand-dad, Brother, and Friend, see you later.
