Mr. Robert Gene Harrison, 85, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford, Ms. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. also at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Springhill Methodist Church Cemetery (County Road 459, Oxford, MS). Bro. Ron Provence and Bro. Buster Wilson will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harrison was born in Lafayette County, MS. After serving in the United States Army, he spent more than 30 years of his working life as a Plant Engineer with Dresser Industries. Mr. Harrison spent several years living in Houston, TX. He then moved to Oxford, MS, to be close to his sister and brother and enjoy his retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening and even used his architectural talents to create structures to complement the landscaping projects that he enjoyed so much. He also had an artistic talent that was obvious in his drawings.
Mr. Harrison is survived by one son, Daniel Harrison of Lafayette, LA; one brother, Jim Harrison (Shirley) of Oxford; one sister, Sheron Harrison Thomas of Oxford; and four special friends, Juan and Noemi Rocha and Jonathan and Jennifer Rocha.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Preston Paine Harrison and Opal Idell Bland Harrison.
In honor of Mr. Robert Gene Harrison's service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home.
