Mother Lenora Butler, 97, transitioned on Sunday morning, August 16, 2020 at Great Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Byhalia.

Lenora was born on November 5, 1922, to the late Dan and Carrie Butler.  She had a strong faith in the Lord, and joined Mt. Pisgah C.M.E. Church in Byhalia, MS at an early age.  She was a faithful member until her health failed in December 2010.

Lenora  was called home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2020, at Great Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Byhalia, MS.

Lenora formerly served at Mt. Pisgah C.M.E. Church as church secretary, choir member, choir director, member of the missionary society while serving as treasurer.  She was a member of the Webb-Rubin Circle and Women of Faith Society.  She served the Carrington and Kelsey families as a domestic worker most of her adult life;  she retired in 2010.

Lenora was an extraordinary cook and she loved to cook for her family.

Lenora had no biological children, but she had a hand in rearing her nieces and nephews. She will be missed.  She is now gathered to her people in heaven, To God be the glory for 97 years of life.

Lenora’s niece, Shirley Rubin Nelson was honored that her Auntie entrusted her to make sure she was well taken care of for 10 years; Lenora had high standards.

Lenora is preceded in death by her siblings: brothers, Ruby Butler, Sr., Nathaniel Butler, Sr., Luther Butler,  James Butler, Sr., Thelmon Butler, Sr., sister; Mary Butler-Rubin.

Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 10a.m. at Mt. Pisgah C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Byhalia, MS. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 4-6p.m. at Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Springs.
