Charles Floyd, 78, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 in Dothan, AL due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. He was born on February 20, 1942 in Puckett, MS to Charles “Charlie” and Gertrude Burnham Floyd. During his life, he worked among many various trades including the cotton gin during the 1980’s. Charles spent many years working as an oil rig hand for Exxon and for the past 20 years, he worked for Carother’s Construction. He knew the value of hard worked and showed that through this children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time visiting his family back in Mississippi especially to spend time with his grandchildren. A delight to visit with, he made friends wherever he went and like nothing more than carry on a good conversation. Loved by so many, he will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Kennedy Haven Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by one daughter, Anita Young (Albert); one son, Charles Matthew Floyd; brothers, George Floyd (Linda) of Ellisville, Joe Floyd of Puckett, and John David Floyd of Jackson; sisters, Ellen Sumrall of Brandon, Becky Cook (Danny) of White Oak, Cathy McCoy of Brandon, and Freda Jackson of Defuniak Springs, FL; nieces, Emily Grace McCoy and Debbye Suibielski (Jason); nephews, Tommy Martin, Daniel Cook, and Martin Steed; grandchildren, Braxton and David Young; and a host of other family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Floyd; sister, Sylvia Inez Shotts; brother, Horace Floyd; brothers-in-law, Jake McCoy, Lonus Shotts, and Edward Jackson.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
