Listen to this obituary

Mr. Jesse Lamond Gambrel, 36, transitioned on Monday, September 28, 2020 at his residence in Sumter, South Carolina.

Jesse Lamond Gambrel was born to Frank and Louise Gambrel on August 1,1984 in Tupelo,MS. Throughout his life he proudly boasted of Red Hill, MS being his home.

Jesse had the honor of being the oldest of four boys, Jeremy Gambrel (Quaneisha Gambrel), Julius Gambrel (Tina Gambrel) and Justin Gambrel. To this honor, Jesse had four other beloved siblings, Jason Leatherwood (Nikeshia Leatherwood), Gregory Gambrel (Charlotte Gambrel), Nicole Gambrel and Desmond Harris. Jesse also considered his cousins Jarvis Jones and Tomarkcos Blanchard to be brothers to him.

After graduating high school from East Union, Jesse achieved a bachelor's degree from The University of Southern Mississippi.

Jesse found and chose a wife, Keoka Murphy, youngest child of Freddie and Vickie Murphy of Meridian, MS. In addition to finding a wife, Jesse gained a brother-in-law, Kareem Pickett (Tia Pickett), and a sister-in-law, Tobi Farley (Shawn Farley).

The Gambrels enjoyed living in Greenville, N.C., Warner Robins, GA, Muscle Shoals, AL and Sumter, SC. While Jesse climbed the corporate ladder, Keoka continued her career in respiratory therapy. During their tenure in Greenville, N.C., the Gambrels welcomed J Titus Gambrel, their first and only child on January 5, 2016.

Jesse found pleasure in spending time with his family (especially his grandmother Ethel McKinney), hunting, fishing, off-roading with Titus and Baltimore Ravens Football.

During his lifetime Jesse was beloved by family, friends, co-workers and strangers alike. Jesse had a gentle spirit and never missed an opportunity to bless others.

One glad morning, Monday, September 28, 2020, Jesse gained his wings when the Lord gently called him home to eternal rest.

We, the family, are confident in the Lord's promise of knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with our Lord.
